Fight Like A Girl

Tiana's Tea, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization committed to the development, empowerment, and advancement of women. We deal with the issues that heavily affect the physical, mental, spiritual and soulish well-being of a woman. One of these issues being, Breast Cancer, which affects approximately 1 in 8 women. To keep our commitment of addressing women’s issues, we take each year to honor and celebrate women who have survived this invasive disease. Each year we choose to honor 3 very special women who have stand out amongst family and friends for their achievements, while fighting Breast Cancer. Last year, in honor of two very special women who passed away in 2019 and 2020, Ms. Tanasha Whiting and Ms. Shante Robinson, we were able to provide two college bound students, with $1,000 scholarships, who lost their mother due to Breast Cancer, under our “Keep Her Dreams Alive" Scholarship foundation.

The Purpose

Did you know more than 42,000 women and more than 2,000 men will die form breast cancer in this year alone? Did you know that 1 out of every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer? And, did you know despite black women and white women being diagnosed with breast cancer at a similar rate, black women have a 40% higher risk of dying from breast cancer.

Male breast cancer is a rare disease. In the United States, fewer than 1% of all breast cancers occur in men. In 2022, about 2,710 American men are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer, and about 530 are expected to die from the disease. An average man’s risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer in his lifetime is about one in 1,000 (compared to one in eight for the average woman).

The History
Since our inception, Tiana's tea has always focused on the hard issues that plague the lives of many women. In 2018, Tiana's Tea had the honor of being a part of another Breast cancer initiative that recognized the fight of many women. It was that moment that Tiana Marshall realized she wanted to do something large, memorable and transformative in the lives of women who battled Breast Cancer. So it began in 2019, with the 1st Breast Cancer Celebration Event and it has grown each year since. Last year, Tiana's Tea had the pleasure of recognizing 6 outstanding women with awards, that recognized their positive contribution to the Breast Cancer plight. The organization was also able to recognize 2 college bound students with scholarships, under the "Keep Her Dream Alive Scholarship Program".
